G/Score

No matter where you sit in the innovation ecosystem, the volume of technology startups worldwide makes it virtually impossible to identify, measure, support, or promote young businesses at effective scale. That’s why we developed the G/SCORE:  a standardized method to assess a startup as it grows from initial concept to scalable enterprise.  Developed by Chris Shipley and backed by the National Science Foundation, the G/SCORE is the most comprehensive tool for understanding the state and growth of innovation around the world.

Designed to accurately and consistently assess companies regardless of their stage, market segment, and geography, the G/SCORE measures any early-stage company across seven key business factors: business concept, market opportunity, competitive landscape, product execution, business execution, team, and business model. Each assessment combines both quantitative and qualitative analysis in a transparent, accessible, and consistent process.

The G/SCORE provides startups with actionable, unbiased feedback about their strengths and opportunities. Using our G/SCORE SELECT software platform, entrepreneurs can assess the progress of their business, then validate that self-assessment by requesting a Certified G/SCORE.  A certified G/SCORE is compiled from a panel of certified analysts and measures a company’s current status through an objective lens. In context with additional company data and scores from other startups around the world, the G/SCORE gives insight into the startup’s potential and offers a prescription for additional improvements.   Investors, technology providers, economic development agencies and other members of the global entrepreneurial ecosystem use the G/SCORE as a fast, objective and credible way to filter, compare and benchmark start-ups.It is a standard and scalable method for assessing startups, providing transparent comparisons of startups across market segments, stages, and geographies. And it is based on measurable data points, enabling entrepreneurial stakeholders to qualify and benchmark startups more quickly.
