About Us

Founded in 2004, Guidewire Group provides startups, their supporters, and those who do business with them with the tools, data, networks and programs they need to discover, monitor, benchmark, compare, and promote early-stage companies. Steeped in thousands of conversations with innovative startup companies and backed by the National Science Foundation, we are working to deliver at scale the highest-quality services to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in the 21st Century.

Our Point of View

Entrepreneurship is the fastest path to economic growth, job creation, and community revitalization. Yet inefficiencies in the startup ecosystem mean the vast majority of startups don’t have ready access to the resources they need to most effectively build revenue-generating businesses, and as a result, billions in economic value is never realized.  Guidewire Group seeks to capture that value for entrepreneurs by deploying a global network of resources optimized for startup growth and global competitiveness. By tilting the balance of opportunity in the favor of entrepreneurs, we believe that more entrepreneurs will find the success that leads to a brighter economic future.

Our Community

Rooted in the conviction that the Innovation Ecosystem thrives when it is aligned with the interest of entrepreneurs, Guidewire Group engages a global community of entrepreneurs and those who seek to do business with them.  We work with entrepreneurs to identify opportunity and develop and execute strategies to realize their potential. We work with economic development and corporate organizations that support startups by providing tools and programs that help them deliver services – efficiently and effectively and with measurable results. And for companies that do business with startups, we provide tools and data to discover, benchmark, and track the start ups that will help them achieve their business objectives.

What We Do

At the center of Guidewire Group’s practice is the discipline of measurement and benchmarking startup performance. Our proprietary G/SCORE ™ assessment methodology identifies key opportunities for business optimization, and our Studio G mentorship programs connect entrepreneurs with the resources they need to drive value into their businesses. Our global perspective means entrepreneurs can leverage expertise across an international network of entrepreneurs, mentors, partners, customers, and service professionals, while growing strong businesses in their local communities. This integrated and global approach to measure, benchmark, mentor, and connect entrepreneurs is the leverage that is missing in today’s startup ecosystem.

GuidewireGroup is a proud recipient of National Science Foundation SBIR Phase I, Ib, and II grants that support the development of the G/SCORE SELECT software platform to enable entrepreneurs to assess the progress of their startup businesses.  The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 “to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense…” With an annual budget of about $6.9 billion (FY 2010), the NSF is the funding source for approximately 20 percent of all federally-supported basic research conducted by America’s colleges and universities.
