So this is slightly out of the norm for The Guidewire. But some very smart, very plugged-in tech-heads read our blog and I’d be crazy not to take advantage of your wisdom.

I’m about to begin the wondrous journey of buying a new laptop. And as I’m scanning through CNET, Gizmodo, Engadget and other like-minded sites, I’m seeing a lot of great suggestions and little selection widgets for choosing a laptop. But they just don’t compare to personalized anecdotes. So I’m putting the message to the Guidewire community. If you had an unlimited budget (which I don’t, but let’s dream big for a moment), which laptop would you buy? It needs to be:

–Portable – 13-inch screen or less and under 5 lbs

–Powerful – dual-core Intel processor, 2GB ram or more (and do I care if this is DDR2 or 3?)

–Mobile – wireless WAN would be nice

And I wouldn’t mind if it were somewhat attractive to boot. Like the new Dell Adamo XPS I’ve been reading about. Any suggestions/advice/opinions you have would be hugely appreciated. Feel free to comment on this post or email me at carla@guidewiregroup.com. Thank you!

P.S. Macolytes, I don’t want to hear it.
